Kurt Gödel Award 2025

The Kurt Gödel Freundeskreis in cooperation with Prof. Christoph Benzmüller, University of Bamberg and PD. Dr. Oliver Passon, University of Wuppertal presents the

Kurt Gödel Award 2025

for the promotion and dissemination of Gödel’s work in the natural sciences and humanities:
This prize has again been be awarded in an essay contest for the best answers to the following question:

How are Gödel´s conceptual and mathematical realism, his argument against the existence of time, and his ontological argument compatible with a coherent ontology?

Contributions were welcome which illuminate the subject matter from a philosophical, mathematical-logical or scientific perspective.

In accordance with the conditions of participation, the jury has decided to award two essays with first prizes of €5,000 each:

Dr. Cordelia Mühlenbeck:
Gödels holistische Ontologie – Grundlegung der Wissenschaften auf einer exakten Theorie der Metaphysik 
(An English translation should be available by mid-December)
Tim Lethen:
Gödel und der Materialismus der Engel
(An English translation should be available by mid-December)

Edward N. Zalta:
wins a second prize of € 1,000 for his essay:
Unifying and Validating Some Ideas of Kurt Gödel

Georgii D. Paksiutov:
wins a second prize of € 1,000 for his essay:
Gödel’s Symbolic Philosophy: A Sketch of the System

Gary Mar:
wins a second prize of € 1,000 for his essay:
Gödel’s Ontological Dream

Levin Hornischer:
wins a second prize of € 1,000 for his essay:
Stability Interpretation of Gödel

All essays are copyright protected and may only be used with the permission of the respective authors. Only for these six essays do we have the copyrights for the internet. If you want to contact the authors you may use the e-mail addesse in the link to the author.

The decisions of the jury of the Kurt Gödel Award are final. Legal recourse is excluded.

The award ceremony will take place on December 5 in Bamberg, and on the previous day, December 4, there will be an international workshop on computational metaphysics. A website with initial information is already available:  https://www.uni-bamberg.de/aise/events/winter-2025/
